Mudumalai

Mudumalai lies nestled on the north western side of the never-ending Nilgiri Hills. A visitor to Mudumalai will be delighted by the sweet little surprises springing up every minute. The place is best known for its famous Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, situated at a height of 1000 meters.

The name” Mudumalai” stands for the ancient hill range that slides down to the Mysore plateau. Its closeness with the Bandipur forest reserve, gives it wider access to gaurs and elephants. The advance to the sanctuary from Ooty is a stunning caricature, turning down 36 hairpin bends through forested hills and awe-inspiring waterfalls.
